Common Laundry Problems Solved

Shrinking The main cause of shrinkage in the washing machine is a result of high heat. Certain fabrics are more sensitive to heat such as jeans, nylon, rayon, dark clothes and children's clothing. The rule of thumb is that most man-made fabrics should be washed at 30 degrees. People often wash clothes using high temperatures however washing at 30 can be just as effective, cheaper, more environmentally friendly and likely to keep clothes safe from shrinkage! Discolouration This can often happen with white clothes and linen. Most of us know the general rule of thumb when it comes to washing our clothes as we do this all the time. Underwear needs to be washed after one use whilst other items such as jeans or bras can be (and should be, to decrease fading and stretching) worn a few times before washing.
